Trans-RMNP Marathon

Description

Mostly dirt route starting at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center (west entrance), climbing the North Inlet Trail over Flattop Mountain, and descending to the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center (east entrance).

The course covers a traverse of the park, moving through sub alpine, alpine, and riparian areas. Starting and ending at the visitor centers allows easy shuttling and gives the athlete claim to have covered the complete width of the park. The west side provides much more solitude than the busier east side. All of the park's large ungulates can be seen along this route.

Description

Phnom Aural (5948ft/1813m) is Cambodia's high point.

The established trailhead begins at 738ft/225m and ascends rapidly up a 6 mile/9.7km trail. Some short downhill sections make for a total elevation gain of 5620 feet. A summit house at the top clear marks the high point and the end of the route.
