Brunei is located on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It's known for its beaches and biodiverse rainforest, much of it protected within reserves. 70% of Brunei’s land is covered in pristine jungle and there are many different hiking trails in there – balancing conservation and hiking in a sustainable manner. This makes Brunei unique, as much of the rainforest in the rest of Borneo is under threat due to logging and palm oil plantation.
The number one hiking spot is Bukit Shahbandar – just outside the capital city.

This loop is a classic in the San Luis Obispo (SLO) area. Located in Montaña de Oro State Park (MdO), it is surrounded by stunning beauty the entire time. This route (in the clockwise direction) starts at the Hazard Peak Trailhead, and starts by climbing up to the peak (optional tag). It then descends down the backside before climbing up to another peak, this time unnamed and on the Barranca Trail. You then descend down a rocky, semi-steep section of the Barranca Trail that is an absolute blast to rip.
