The Hut-Hut Traverse is a New England classic, especially with the "Croo" ...
"The section between Greenleaf and Galehead is really steep and usually wet - you have to use your hands - that's what those trails are like."
Jeff now lives in Colorado, with more big plans. What's the difference between the Rockies and New England?
"There's nothing like New Hampshire. And I'm still living the dream."

On June 20, Karl broke Kilian Jornet's time on Denali by one minute. After more than 11 hours, it came down to the wire?
"He used skis, so I was way ahead at the top, but he was much faster going down."
Karl is going for FKTs on all the Seven Summits - he holds 4 of them simultaneously right now!
"I'm not that fast, but I'm at home on glaciers, up high, in the mountains. This is what I was born to do."

Field Forest Trail (CT)
This 1.5 mile trail has a trail head that is rather well hidden within the grounds of Coginchaug Regional High School. It ambles gently through the woods finishing 1.5 miles away from the start. There is a red and blue trail you can use an alternative route back to the start so that you can make this a more interesting 2.5 mile loop. This property was given to CFPA by Howard Brigham Field, Jr after his death in 1999. Mr. Field was a conservationist and longtime resident of Durham who loved the property and wanted it to be protected in perpetuity for the community.

Quarry View High Trail (CT)
This trail is only 0.4 miles long and is described as a stand alone trail in its own right as part of the CFPA Blue Blaze Series. The rocky and wooded shady ascent takes you steeply up to a stunning viewpoint with great views. The trail shares the same car park as the Scovill Loop Trails and has a superb viewpoint at the top where you can see the Connecticut River in the distance. The trail follows the route of a disused quarry from the 19th Century and is a steady climb up to the viewpoint. Its mainly shaded in the woods but quite exposed at the top section.
