Hibbard Trail (CT)
Whitney Forest Hibbard Trail is near Lebanon in Connecticut and is a wonderful 1.5 mile blue blazed trail with beautiful rock walls, stream crossings and meandering paths through the woodland. The Whitney Forest was donated to CFPA in 1998 by Dorothy Whitney to protect the property from further development and ensure its proper management well into the future. This wonderful woodland was harvested in 2015 to help regenerate oak and pitch pine species and to improve the site for wildlife.
Great Smoky Mountains Big Loop (NC, TN)
This route is a 116 mile loop beginning and ending at Big Creek Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains. The loop goes over both Clingman's Dome and Mount LeConte and also covers some of the best trails in the Park.
Arctic Circle Trail (Greenland)
Greenland’s Arctic Circle Trail is often listed as one of the best long-distance hikes in the world. The trail stretches up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) from the edge of the ice cap to the fishing town of Sisimiut on the West coast. Depending on fitness levels and the specific route chosen, it can take anywhere between 7-12 days to complete hiking. Spread along the trail are a couple of basic wooden huts for bad weather, but packing a tent is recommended.
