Description

Cloud's Rest (9926') is one of Yosemite's most stunning and expansive view points. The trail to the top runs about 6 miles from Tenaya Lake, gaining 1775' in elevation in the process.

There is a Strava segment for the ascent, but we note that times reported by Strava are approximate.  Runners should report their actual time from the TH to the top.

Description

"The Oregon Desert Trail (ODT) is conceptual in nature; it is largely unmarked, does not verifiably exist in the field and is in essence a name we’ve given to a plausible route on public land and legal rights of way across the high desert." - from the Oregon Desert Trail website

Sierra High Route (CA)

Description

The Sierra High Route is a 195 mile on and off trail route through the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. It was established by Steve Roper and described by him in his book Sierra High Route: Traversing Timberline Country, first published in 1982. Roper did not really envision the High Route as a thru-hike, but rather imagined people would do it in sections, and he laid out his book that way.
