Description

These three 14ers are in Chicago Basin, deep in the Weminuche Wilderness.  They are usually climbed by taking the Durango & Silverton Railway to Needleton, then backpacking into Chicago Basin.  They can also be accessed purely on foot from Purgatory, which adds about 12 miles of trail each way, for a 42-mile outing with 12,000' of elevation gain.

Description

At 14,003', Huron Peak barely makes it as a 14er. But since it is, it's very popular.  The shortest, quickest route is the Northwest Slopes route from a 4WD-accessible TH above Winfield.  From there it's about 3.25 miles to the top, with 3500' of elevation gain.
