The Linville Gorge Hiking Circuit is a conglomerate of 21 individual trails that - when linked - circles the Linville Gorge Wilderness in its' entirety.

Backpacker Magazine sums up the Black Mountain Crest Trail: "Climb over 10 peaks above 6,000 feet on this 11-mile shuttle-hike culminating at Mt. Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi River."

Start your watch at the bridge over Bowlen's Creek, stop it at the observation deck on Mount Mitchell (or back at the creek if doing the out and back).

This is a segment of the Cumberland Trail consisting of the Rock Creek, Possum Creek, and Soddy Creek Gorge's sections as well as the northern end connector trail from the Lower Leggett Rd trail head.
