Description

Remote conversation area consisting of mangrove swamp, Indian River lagoon, and tons of wildlife. The route starts at the Historic Sam's House and travels through a portion of the 900-acre Pine Island Conversation Area. The first 1.5 miles consists of winding singletrack through the mangroves, then an open, grassy area where gators can be seen resting on the sides of the lagoon. Heading west down a small canal, an equine and hiking trail snakes about a half mile or so before turning back to complete the route. Bug spray is highly recommended.
