Start at the gate on Whitney Portal Road near the Meysan Lake Trailhead. Run up the road to the the start of the Whitney Main Trail TH. Run up to Lonepine Lake. Get off the trail and start the ascent of the North Face of Candlelight Peak. Summit Candlelight Peak and then drop down into the Meysan Lake Basin. Run the Meysan Lake Trail back to the starting point.

The misti is an inactive volcano that is 5822m high.

This is the alternative route to the ascent to the Misti. Which stands out for its hardness of terrain and verticality.

It has in its first ten kilometers 1500m of ascent and in the last 3 kilometers 1300m of positive difference in altitude.

The route is usually done in 2 days 1 night or quickly from the back with a descent for this route.
