We are blessed with gorgeous trails and many fine churches on the Essex/Suffolk border, and friends will note how frequently I photograph both while on my runs. I wanted to create a route that celebrated both and was accessible for many at around 50k. Although I have been noodling on this for over a year, it was finally plotted just days prior to the attempt when another FKT with a friend had to be postponed.

Classic loop route! This one goes out to all the marathon baddies that have those fast turnover legs. I tracked this run on my boyfriends garmin watch as well as on my iphone. My phone shows 1584' climbing and the Garmin shows 2329'. I think the Garmin is much more accurate, there are dozens of small hills on the trail side that I think my phones tracking did not capture.

This 57 mile route starts at the Flamingo Visitor Center located on the Florida Bay in Everglades National Park. The route follows Florida State Road 9336, which serves as the main park road within the Everglades National Park and has historical ties to Old Ingraham Highway. The route traverses 38 miles through the heart of Everglades National Park, where you will pass coastal lowlands, hardwood hammocks, mangroves, wetlands, prairies and cypress forests. Wildlife is abundant throughout the course, including birds and the occasional alligator and crocodile sighting.
