Rio Grande Pyramid (CO)
The Rio Grande Pyramid is an impressive 13'er (13,810'ft) sitting by itself in a far corner of the San Juan mountains. It is an incredible summit because of its prominence and lack of tall surrounding peaks. It is also a pretty remote summit by most standards. The route starts at the Rio Grande reservoir at Thirty Mile Campground and trailhead. It follows the beautiful Weminuche trail along the lake, up a canyon and through alpine meadows to a subtle saddle before turning a bit steeper on the traversing Skyline Trail.

Ozark Trail: North Fork Section (MO)
The North Fork section is one of 14 individual sections that make up the Ozark Trail (OT) within the Missouri Ozarks. Britannica says, "The Ozarks and the adjacent Quachita Mountains represent the only large area of rugged topography between the Appalachians and the Rockies." The Collins Ridge Trailhead of the North Fork section is located at the southern most point of the OT. When starting at this trailhead, the OT shares trail with Devil's Backbone Wilderness area before branching off on its own about 5 1/2 miles in. This section of the OT shares its name with the North Fork river.
Truchas Peak (NM)
An amazing route to the second highest point in New Mexico and arguably the most prominent and impressive peak in New Mexico. There is no short or easy way into the Truchas peaks. The Santa Barbara Trailhead is easily accessible and the trail going up the west fork is really nice and not too steep.
