Google the phrase "the most remote peak in the Wallowa" and you'll find Cusick Mountain. Dig deeper and you'll discover a marbleized summit ridge that's sharp, yet hikeable. Cusick is also home to one of the oldest living trees in Oregon, a Limber Pine that's well over 2,000 years old.

There is a 90km option (normally done in 6 days), and a 55km option (normally done in 4 days).  These are described below.

90km Route: (2300m gain)

Day 1 : from Duesternbrook Safari Guest Farm to Otjiseva Campsite. 16 km  "tough day"

A fun friendly route with great views of the lake!

The route starts as soon as you exit the parking lot at the Smoke & Davey trailhead at Smithville Lake and ends at the parking lot for the Cabin Fever trailhead. To connect the two trails you run on the road for about a mile starting at Camp Branch Marina (from approximately miles 12.5 to 13.5).
