Description

The Sierra Buttes are a striking set of rocky peaks easily seen from the North Tahoe area, being considerably higher than anything in the surrounding area.  They create a beautiful backdrop to the Sardine Lakes, rising up in a stony wall on their northern side.  From the west and south, however, there are more mellow hiking trails.

Sagenhafte Schaecherbachtour (Germany)

Description

The "Sagenhafte Schächerbachtour" is a premium hiking path in Homberg/Ohm in the Vogelsberg, a mountain range of volcanic origin. Since its opening, many hikers come to Homberg, an otherwise sleepy small village.

While mainly designed for hiking, it also allows superb trailrunning. The route meanders through meadows and forests with flowing single trails. As it follows the Schaecherbach, it crosses the creek via volcanic stones and comes along mystic ponds or springs.
