Description

This route tracks all the way down and back through the iconic Bitterroot Valley, starting in Missoula right at the beginning of the Bitterroot Trail. It is a dedicated paved trail the whole way. The trail ends in Hamilton. It travels the whole Bitterroot trail, with spectacular views of the snow-capped Bitterroot Mountains the whole way. You are encouraged to add on an extra 2.9 mile warm-up to make it an even 50, or 5.8 for an out & back 100!  (The bonus miles don't count for the FKT, but you can include the your 50 or 100 mile time in your write-up.)

Description

This route begins from the Sol Duc Falls trailhead in the heart of the Olympic National Park, just southwest of Lake Crescent. Beginning in dense, old growth Douglas Fir forest, the route starts with the Sol Duc Nature Trail and follows the Deer Lake Trail to the east. Careening past powerful streams and waterfalls as it climbs into the Deer Lake basin, the route then diverges to the High Divide Trail as it climbs toward Bogachiel Peak.
