Description

57km, average elevation 4000m with a high point of 4900m, this is one of China's most popular multi-day hiking routes and usually takes hikers 5 days. The route starts from Lao Yulin Dam, goes to Gonga Monastery, and finishes at Zimei village. The mountain can be either called Gongga or Minya Konka. It’s a one way route that circles around half of the mountain (the west side) ("kora" is a Tibetan circumnavigation around an entire holy peak).

From S to N: Up the road to White Mountain Peak, then cross country north of there. Through the cross-country leg, stay on the crest-top plateau and ridgeline to Montgomery and finally over Boundary Peak to its informal trail down to the Queen Canyon access.  ~30 miles.  Very long drive for the shuttle.
