This loop follows the blue-blazed Pachaug Trail from its start at Green Fall Pond in Voluntown for 21.7 miles to its junction with the blue-blazed Nehantic Trail, which is followed for 6.3 miles to its southern terminus and junction with the Pachaug Trail back at Green Fall Pond.
The Terrace Mountain Trail runs 25 miles from the south end of Lake Raystown (just outside of Saxton, Pennsylvania) to the north end, finishing above the man-made dam which created the lake. At times, the trail takes you right along the water, where I have seen Bald Eagles fishing, or you may find yourself high above the lake with a panoramic view of the serpentine shape of the water. This is an aesthetic line for a trail, traveling the length of the lake, and gives you a visible reminder of the distance you are covering.
A point to point route starting at the West Ash Trailhead and ending at Coffee Butte Trailhead. The route crosses much of the Pine Ridge in the Nebraska National Forest in the northwestern corner of Nebraska near Crawford and Chadron. This route is marked by wood poles as it goes up and down bluffs while crossing canyons. This is the longest trail in the Nebraska National Forest. This is an important trail in the Pine Ridge National Recreation Area.
The Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT) is a wilderness hiking and mountain biking trail along the southern shore of Lake Ouachita. It travels up, down and along mountain slopes through a mixed hardwood and pine forest, opening up at several places to spectacular views of the lake before you.
