The Schusteracht is a scenic route in the eastern center of Schleswig-Holstein (Germany's northernmost federal state), which impressively presents the typical landscapes of this area: The varied route leads through fields and forests, over hills formed by the Ice Age glaciers and along the course and lakes of the river Schwentine. The route also passes cultural monuments, old estates and rural villages with their typical thatched houses.
Starting out from the Heysen Trailhead (Southern) in South Australia at Cape Jervis the ferry port for Kangaroo Island the first 70km includes technical cliff paths, dense scrub, and rocky ascent and descent in Deep Creek and momentum sucking cambers with a number of beaches to throw sand into the equation too and a 40% climb off one at Tunkalilla.
"Pioneer Trail spans a distance of 25 miles, starting just east of Nevada City, and climbing along the current route of State Highway 20 to Bear Valley. There it departs from the highway and enters the South Yuba River canyon, where it climbs to join the Spaulding Lake Trail and the 41-mile system of non-motorized trails in the Grouse Lakes area."
