The 19.5-mile Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail on Long Island, completed in 1986 and granted National Recreational Trail status in 1992, preserves a narrow corridor of open land in a densely populated area from Cold Spring Harbor to Massapequa. The trail is blazed white.
This route connects 4 local parks and their highest peaks. Beginning in Sugar Loaf Ridge State Park travel to the top of Bald Mountain (832m) then follow trails to Hood Mountain Regional Park and and summit Hood Mountain (833m) down to Hwy 12 and across to Annadel Trione State Park and the summit of Bennett Mountain (573m) back down on neighborhood streets to Taylor Mountain Regional Park and the top of Taylor Mountain (428m) and back down to Petaluma Hill Road trailhead. As described (point-to-point) the route is about 35 miles.
The short (2.6 mile) Pine Knob Loop near Sharon, CT, is part of CT's extensive Blue Blazed trail network. It has an elevation gain of about 770 feet.
There is a two-loop variation where you return to the start and go the other way on the second loop.

10 mile out and back with over 3k of climb over one of the most scenic trails in the Hudson Valley. A good mix of challenging technical trail with clear stretches where you can open it up. The route starts at the Toll House trail head for the Camp Smith trail, travels to Anthony's Nose and turns at South Mountain Pass Road for a return trip. No need to hit Anthony's Nose on both passes of the Camp Smith trail. The route has features of both the Breakneck Ridge and Storm King areas.

This is an out and back route over two of the highest peaks in the Catskills, with substantial vertical (5300' over 14 miles) on uniquely runnable terrain for this area. In addition to the good running, especially at higher elevations, there are some spectacular views of the southern Catskill region. It is a great shorter option that is easily accessible. Starts at the trail head and turns at the intersection with the Phoenicia East Branch trail.
