Located deep in the 100 mile wilderness, the Great Circle Trail is a recent project (finished in 2021) created by linking together a number of existing trails in the area, including the Turtle Ridge Loop, the Debsconeag Loop trail, a few sections of logging road and a small section on the AT. The loop has beautiful views of ponds and waterfalls throughout and offers a couple brief glimpses of nearby Katahdin.

The Mount Albert Edward – Frink – Castlecrag Loop is a roughly 36 km trail run accessed via the Paradise Meadows trailhead located within the traditional and unceded territories of the Ligwiłda'xw (Liǧʷiłdax̌ʷ), K'ómoks, and Nuu-chah-nulth (including the Mowachaht/Muchalaht) peoples.

The official trailhead begins at El Observatorio, an entrance that, unfortunately, as of October 2026, is closed. However, along the same street, about 100 meters further down, there is an unofficial entrance that provides access to the trail.
Although there are several forks along the way, the main trail is fairly well marked and winds through sclerophyllous forest and some rocky sections, climbing steadily the entire way.
