This route traverses the Sierras from the Whitney Portal to Road’s End. It encompasses portions of the John Muir Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Bubbs Creek Trail. A significant portion of the route takes place at altitude above 10,000 feet, inclusive of a Mt. Whitney summit. As such, the route includes a summit of the highest peak in the continental United States, as well as traversing Forester Pass, which is the highest point along the Pacific Crest Trail. There is approximately 11,000 vertical feet of ascent and 14,000 vertical feet of descent, if traveling from east to west.
