Description

Le Ciron is a river in the Southwest of France that is known for the micro-climate it creates that enables the production of the famous sweet wine Sauterne (one of the most expensive wines in the world). The other reason for being famous is the river is almost entirely covered by a primal beech forest dating back 40,000 years, hosting a rich wildlife. Along the way, a number of castles and windmills are standing for centuries.

Description

This trail starts on a fire road, near the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery in Orland, Maine.  The Capstone Trail veers off to the right after crossing a stream. The route is easily runnable, winding through birch and spruce trees and tops out on granite slopes on the Stuart Gross Trail, with views of the Penobscot Narrows, surrounding ponds and other hills on a clear day.
