Description

The loop begins with a 3 mile climb on fire road before dipping into a more technical run down into the canyon. At the bottom of the descent, there is a small hop across a small creek to begin the climb out of the canyon. The route then becomes a fast but very exposed descent overlooking the ocean. About 1.4 miles from the end, you are rewarded with yet another ascent over a couple of switchbacks.

Centennial Peak is the sixth highest peak in the La Platas, and is a popular route to run because of an easy class 1-2 trail that leads right to the top. From the top, runners have the most unencumbered view possible of Hesperus, one of the four Navajo holy mountains.
