Oregon Coast Trail as Described (OR)

Submitted by Aria Zoner on Thu, 05/25/2023 - 10:40am
Description

As described, the Oregon Coast Trail is 39% beach, 20% trail, and 41% road. The goal of this FKT recognition is to adhere to this ratio. To this end, this FKT does not recognize extensive bypasses that avoid portions of the route as it's described on the Oregon Coast Trail maps.

What sets this FKT apart from the original Oregon Coast Trail FKT

Mourne Way

Submitted by wayneMcG on Wed, 05/24/2023 - 06:26pm
Description

The Mourne Way starts at Newcastle visitor information centre and heads for Tollymore Forest Park and the 10m-high Cascade Falls. A section following the Shimna River leads to the Trassey Track, one of the busiest walkers' routes into the Mournes. The path passes beneath the steep northern slopes of Slieve Meelmore and around the northwestern base of Slieve Meelbeg to reach Fofanny Reservoir. A road section leads to Ott Mountain car park from where begins the ascent of Butter Mountain (500m), the highest point of the route, with fantastic views over the northwestern Mournes.
