This route connects two historic firsts -- the first lighthouse commissioned by the United States (1792, in Montauk) and the first official port of entry in the US (1789, Sag Harbor - the OG Ellis Island).  It also connects the two least hoity-toity towns in the Hamptons.

Hornsea Rail Trail (United Kingdom)

Description

Starting at Spyvee street at the start of the footpath of what once was the Hornsea/Hull Railway line, the route takes you to the sea front at Hornsea where the monument for the end of the Trans Pennine trail is located. The route is mainly hard surface and compacted mud.

This route is a popular route taking advantage of a railway line lost to the Beeching cuts in the 1960's by Lord Beeching. It essentially links Hull and Hornsea with one footpath but does cross a number of roads. The route can not start at Hull rail station station as the path has been lost to development.

Wild Wombat Loop

Description

The Wild Wombat Loop is a 19k circuit that meanders up and down the Lergerderg Gorge in the Lerderderg State Park, Victoria. With some steep climbing and descending it takes in over 1000m of vert in less than 20km. The terrain consists of rocky single track, 4WD and fire roads, as well as some minor scrambling and a couple of river crossings. Due to the steep nature of the gorge it is not recommended to try the route after heavy rain as water levels can rise rapidly.
