Stroud and the 'Five Valleys' are in the heart of the Cotswolds (UK). This route takes in each of Stroud’s five valleys - Painswick, Slad, Toadsmoor, Chalford and Nailsworth.
Stroud, which sits in a valley in Gloucestershire, is surrounded by a number of neighbouring valleys. The Stroud Five Valleys loop is an established route which is typically walked, often for charity.
Starting from the Teton Canyon trailhead, start up toward Alaska Basin. A little over a mile in, turn left (just after the Goat Boulder) and cross the creek to gain the Roaring Canyon "trail". This trail is obvious at first, but becomes fairly faint and eventually navigates a lot of fallen trees before becoming obvious again. Head through Roaring Canyon all the way up to Hurricane Pass. Here, turn right (South) toward Alaska Basin. Right around the area of the Jedidiah Smith Wilderness sign, turn southwest and head straight for the southern ridge of Battleship Mountain.
