Description

Mount Begbie is an iconic 2,733-metre mountain summit located in the Gold Range of the Monashee Mountains. Highly visible from the local town of Revelstoke, Mt Begbie is a beloved symbol and a variety of local businesses including a brewery are named after it.

The trail consists of steep switchbacks through the forest into the alpine, a short glacier crossing, and high quality scrambling to the summit. There is a small campground at tree line with tent pads and an outhouse for more casual adventures.

Description

The Southwest Track route links up the Port Davey and South Coast Tracks from Scott's Peak Dam to Cockle Creek, through the heart of Tasmania's remote Southwest National Park.

The Port Davey Track (~70km) begins at Scott's Peak Dam and meets the South Coast Track (~85 km) at Melalecua (a small remote airstrip and hikers hut). From Melaleuca, the South Coast Track continues eastward along the southern coastline to Cockle Creek.

Cusco - Pisac (Peru)

Description

This FKT simply involves going from the Plaza de Armas in Cusco (the cap. city of the province) to the Plaza de Armas in Pisac (the principle town in the Sacred Valley). You can go the other direction, but Cusco is quite a bit higher. Runners can take any route they like, but we'd recommend NOT running on the narrow and winding paved road, frequented by extremely aggressive drivers.

Puerta del Sol / Inti Punku (Peru)

Description

This is one of the classic ascents in the Sacred Valley. Start on the Ollantaytambo side of the bridge and follow the very smooth, runnable trail up to the Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol, or Sun Gate) at ~3,900m (12,800 ft). The route climbs almost 1100m (3600 ft) in just over 8km (5 miles).

One can continue on upward to the (un-named) summit above the Inti Punku at 4,430m for a separate FKT.
