Skye Trail (United Kingdom)

Description

The Skye Trail covers 128 km of tough terrain including spectacular mountain and coastal scenery on the Isle of Skye. It follows much of the celebrated Trotternish Ridge and also passes under the very shadow of the jagged Cuillin, the finest mountains in Britain. There are remarkable but almost unvisited coastal cliffs, steep trails above high drops, and the haunting ruins of deserted villages destroyed in the Highland Clearances.

Downs Link (United Kingdom)

Description

As the name implies, the downs link connects the North Downs Way to the South Downs Way.  Starting at St Marthas church in Surrey the route follows two disused railway lines.  The trains stopped running in the 1960's and ever since then the surfaces have been well maintained and are now a haven for wildlife, cyclists and runners alike.

There is an annual ultra every year, which attracts a high quality field covering the route.  We don't keep track of FKTs set in races, since the race websites do that.
