Description

If you're looking for a strenuous climb with a great view, try Toro Park's Ollason Peak. It provides sweeping views of Monterey Bay and the Salinas Valley, and in the right season abounds with wildflowers.

Toro Park's 20 miles of trails, all of which lead to sweeping views of the Salinas Valley and Monterey Bay, offer a range of environments for the hiker, cyclist or horse rider. The most popular trail is the "1800" trail, which rises from sea level to 1,800 feet and provides the best scenic views.

Starting from one of two lower parking lots along side Deer Creek Canyon Road you begin up Grizzly Drive, but quickly turn off onto Rattlesnake Gulch Trail.  Then you start the accent up Meadowlark Trail (No bikes).  After reaching a more technical trail previously a riverbed (Plymouth Creek Trail) you climb again choosing to go to Bill Couch Mountain via the Golden Eagle Trail or Plymouth Mountain via either sides of Plymouth Mountain Trail.  Then after reaching the top of either you find your way to the opposite mountain.  Be wary of cyclists as they frequent several of these trails.
