The 23mi course starts and finishes at West Rock State Park at the Lake Wintergreen parking lot and traverses through several of the Woodbridge Greenway trails, Yale Nature Preserve, the Maltby Lakes, and a short section through the sub-town of Westville before returning to the southern tip of West Rock State Park and returning to the start.

Episode 74: Andy Anderson: A terrific inside scoop of two of the most iconic FKTs in the US

Category
Person-Person

The Longs Peak FKT stood for 33 years!  The Grand Teton FKT for 29 years ... then Andy broke them both in the span of two weeks!

"I'm a mediocre runner and a mediocre climber ... but not many people do both."

Andy was Climbing Ranger at the Longs Peak Ranger Station (as was Chris Reveley, the previous FKT holder) so he has extremely valuable thoughts and advice for all of us:

"I've backed off more routes than I can remember ... everything has to be perfect."

The scenic route around the lake Walensee.

High Route:  Starting at the river Linth at the west shore, the route first goes south and uphill, taking a higher route on the south shore to avoid the tar road. Dropping down to the shore close to Walenstadt, the route then follows the low trails on the road-free north shore back to the river Linth.  About 53km / 2630m elevation gain.
