Take the cable car up to the top station. The route then climbs to the nearest summit before beginning an incredible descent of approx 2900ft to the bottom station. Initially on good, wide gravel paths you take a detour off for some seriously technical rock garden descent before joining the main gravel path again. Once more you detour off into another rock garden before traversing a balcony path around the mountain and entering the final forested sweeping single track. This last section has a kicker though as a couple of ascents will test the aching legs

The SalzAlpenSteig is a premium long-distance alpine trail starting in Germany at the famous Chiemsee. It goes along two other famous lakes (Königssee and Hallstätter See) and finishes in Austria. The route passes multiple mountain ranges: Chiemgauer Alps, Berchtesgadener Alps and the Tennengebirge range as well as the Dachstein Region. It is a very historical trail, as it passes all the Salt-relevant landmarks in both countries. Famous cities such as Bad Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden are included, as well as the Salzkammergut.
