This year, hundreds of square miles in the western US has been on fire, resulting in terrible air quality which often has exceeded EPA guidelines. Dr Kevin Shilling is a long time ultrarunner, was 10th at the HR100 this year, and is a pulmonary physician based in Salt Lake City. So we ask him an important question:
When does air pollution get so bad it's better not to exercise?
"That depends on how badly you want to go for a run."

Devil's River State Trail (WI)
This is a scenic rail-to-trail route. It traverses eastern Wisconsin and travels through four small towns. It gives the runner/hiker a great view of the farming industry in Wisconsin. In Maribel, you run right next to a grain coop. There are many places where you can see farms off in the distance, complete with cows n the pasture. There are many farm fields growing crops such as soybeans, corn, alfalfa, etc. Much of the trail has plenty of shade along the length making for a scenic journey. Overall, a beautiful trail and a great way to escape to the country.
