This is a nice tourist route along the border of Czechia and Slovakia. The views are wonderful, mountain pastures with sheep, deep woods and rocky paths. It is a hard pack forest path and some rocky parts, but fairly flat. It is known and recommended among local tourist groups. The path is marked by red tourist mark, start to finish.
This route is marked on OS maps however signage along the way is very limited.
Gäurandweg is a very well signposted hiking trail administered by Schwarzwaldverein. It crosses Heckengäu alongside the eastern slopes of Black Forest with it’s varied landscapes but also some cultural and historical highlights. It’s passing field land, wood land, tablelands and valleys, covered with fruit tree meadows, juniper heath and innumerous hedges of haw- and blackthorn. The open plains offer lots of beautiful views to Black Forest in the West and Swabian Alb in the East.
Unassuming, seemingly flat trail that uses a mix of foot paths, disused railway lines, canal paths. That is until you hit Manchester when it becomes a technical navigation route and starts its heady climb into the clouds of the Pennine range.
The Chattooga River, a federally designated wild and scenic river, is most known as one of the southeast's premier whitewater rafting and fly fishing locations as well as the backdrop of the 1972 movie "Deliverance".
