This route begins at the Tuolumne Meadows trailhead and goes south on the John Muir Trail. The trail is a gradual meandering single track through Lyell Canyon. The first real climb begins around mile 10, which takes you up switchbacks to Donohue Pass. After Donohue, the trail cruises down into the Inyo Wilderness and past a series of crystal blue alpine lakes such as Thousand Island Lake. The end of the segment is the Rainbow Falls Trailhead/Reds Meadow Resort parking lot.

Atlantic & Pacific Peaks Loop (CO)
This is a classic scramble on the Tenmile Range linking Pacific & Atlantic Peaks from Mayflower Gulch. It combines two summits, with a descent of one of the coolest class 2 ridges in the state, down the West Ridge of Atlantic. While on a Class 3 scramble the west ridge offers some real intimidation with several exposed moments. It is a little short but the steepness and the vertical make it truly a great route for anyone to do.
