Coosa Backcountry Loop Trail (GA)
Sean Blanton posted the route:
Starting at Vogel State Park in Blairesville , GA, the Coosa Backcountry Loop is a 12.9 mile loop with about 7,000 ft of elevation change.
info on loop here: www.georgiatrails.com/gt/Coosa_Backcountry_Trail
note I have read a lot of things that denote the length of the trail from 12.4 to 12.9 miles.
Mt Rogers (VA)
At 5729', Mt Rogers is the VA state highpoint.
Two different approaches were posted on our old site.
Andy Chrysler ran up from Massie Gap to the south via the AT in "a little under 47 minutes" (Strava says 46m25s) on 10/10/2015: https://www.strava.com/activities/411854519
Virginia Capital Trail (VA)
The Virginia Capital Trail is a bike path running about 51 miles from Williamsburg/Jamestown to Richmond, VA. Although many of the efforts pre-2021 included it, officially the FKT does not include the "spur" which runs .6 miles north of the bridges to Great Shiplock Park, the trail runs between mile marker 0 and mile marker 51.2 and does not go to 51.7. The GPX below is accurate.
Jon Olszyk posted some notes on the route:
Arthur Ravenel Bridge (Charleston, SC)
E. Shane Morris posted this quirky challenge:
E. Shane Morris, age 51 of 1120 Simmons St. Mount Pleasant, SC. 29464 is making an FKT attempt to run 100 mile on the Arthur Ravenel on May 27th 2017 beginning at 5:00 am. I welcome anyone in the area to come out and join, participate, coach, heckle or beat me.
Although this is somewhat unusual as the running path/trail on this bridge is concrete it is one of the most popular running routes in Charleston, South Carolina if not the most popular.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park 900 (NC, TN)
The idea here is to hike/run all 900 miles of trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Successful completion of all 900 miles of trail in the GSMNP is referred to as a "map". Maps are considered finished when all open trails have been traversed. Backtracking will be required to return to your vehicle and to access trails in the backcountry.
