The Velikoretsky Procession of the Cross; the oldest, longest and by far the biggest of many in Russia; 40,000 pilgrims from all over country walk 160 kilometers for 5 days following the icon of St. Nicolay the Wonder-worker. The dates of pilgrimage from June, 3 to June, 8, yeach year, but one could do the route anytime although best months are from May to October. 

This Trail Running route is an "Open-Loop" variation to Mt. Landale from the Cottonwood Main gate. Route ascends gently up Cottonwood Main before crossing the creek and grabbing the trail to Lomas Lake, continuing on to the summit by way of the North Ridge. Descent is via South Ridge and deactivated logging roads to the south, eventually coming out Widow Main and back to the starting point at the Cottonwood Gate. A fantastic loop and a true gem of the Cowichan Valley!
