The Cuillin Round
This is a 24 hour 'rock and run' challenge taking in 60 Cuillin tops on the Isle of Skye. It involves running and scrambling across a distance of some 60km while ascending over 7500 meters to take in a dozen Munros plus a dozen more Munro tops (including Knight's Peak). Although no technical climbing is involved the route does include sustained exposed scrambling up to about diff standard. The challenge is to complete the route as an un-roped scramble.
Trans Cuillin Traverse
The rock/run traverse, called the Trans Cuillin, West to East traverse of 70 Cuillin tops (75km & 9000 meters of ascent) was devised by Rob Woodall, who attempted it in 2001 but unfortunately, due to bad weather, didn’t manage to finish.
It is believed James Gibson is the first person to have completed it, adding it to the growing list of long-distance challenge records he holds.
Etive Munro's Round
Glen Etive, just south of Glen Coe, is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland. If you’ve not been there you may have seen glimpses in films such as Skyfall. It’s surrounded by fantastic hills on both sides, including 16 Munros, with the iconic Buachaille Etive Mor being the most renowned.

Ko Pha-ngan loop
Ko Pha-ngan island is famous for Full Moon Parties and Alex Garland's novel "The Beach'' which Leonardo De Caprio starred in. You will pass by a short trail that leads you to The Sanctuary, where Alex Garland sat and wrote his manuscript. The loop is a mixture of tarmac and trail with lots of ups and downs. I normally do not see any other runners here so it's a beautiful place to be alone. If lucky you will see monkeys in the trees, I even saw some snakes on the dirt roads. At the start of the year the temperature can climb to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Kauai Powerline Trail (HI)
The Powerline Trail has been on my list for years. However, up until recently, it’s been heavily overgrown with little zero access. That changed this past year as the county has gone in and given it a makeover creating an amazing route in the heart of Kauai.
I started at the tanks in Princeville off of Kapaka St. The first 6 miles are pretty sweet and rolling with about 1700’. And then, it opens up beautifully 4+ miles down down down to Gate/Arboretum Area.
Touch that gate and turn around.
