Pico del Fraile

Description

This route began at the welcome center parking lot. Uphill to the laguna viewpoint. Downhill beyween the two lakes. Up past two false summits, and some class 5 scrambling to the very small peak. This is the 4th highest peak in Mexico and one of the few places that gets snow, as seen in the photos. It is the closest to a true alpine route you will find here. The trail is not well marked, is high elevation almost entirely over 14k feet and the last half is above 15k feet. Lots of loose rock, scrambling, and many class 3 and class 5 sections. Not a beginner peak!
