Stansbury Front Trail

Description

This route goes from Chokecherry Springs trailhead to West Canyon trailhead (or vice versa). It spans almost the entire length of the Stansbury Mountains and crosses through several notable canyons, including South and North Willow Canyons.

The trail is fairly easy to follow. The north side has moderate ups and downs and it is fairly runnable, while the south side consists of steeper climbs and descents that are often rocky and technical to navigate. It is common to cross paths with dirt bikers and horseback riders.

Description

This hike begins at one of the more crowded trailheads Ramona Falls, but quickly moves to some of the loneliest terrain on the mountain. Along the way, the scenery is dominated by evidence of the forces of nature at work that provide a terrific living laboratory for children and adults: the Muddy Fork canyon is literally coming apart at the seams, with several recent mudflows dramatically changing the landscape before you. The gleaming pyramid of Mount Hood towers above the entire route.
