Eagle Mountain Ridgeline

I didn’t grow up in Eagle Mountain or around these mountains. After moving here four years ago, I found myself drawn to the ridgeline that rises above the city. Every run led me a little farther, a little higher, and eventually the idea formed to connect the entire ridge into one continuous effort.

Description

Gotska Sandön is one of the most remote places in Sweden, a quiet sand island far out in the Baltic Sea. With its long beaches, sparse pine forests and minimal human presence, it’s an ideal setting for a simple, clean endurance challenge.

The full loop of the island can be run without leaving the beach. Most of the shoreline offers firm, runnable sand, but roughly 30% consisted of coarse, uneven stone which makes the pace slower and requires more careful footing.

The island is alive with bird activity throughout the course, and seals in the sea.
