Route begins at the ferry terminal entering the salt marsh at the bulkhead. Route is completed at low tide to enable staying on shoreline and traversing the sand bar on the western side. Also includes crossing the mouth of the kayak channel on the eastern sound side. Route ends at the same ferry terminal.
A rugged out-and-back along the 2,000-year-old Sarn Helen Roman Road across Hirfynydd. It links the Roman-history hub of Banwen - a candidate birthplace of St Patrick - to the B4242 on the far side of the mountain, where a stone milestone marks the turnaround. Expect true mountain trail with scree/talus sections, boggy hollows, forestry edges, and exposed moor. One half looks toward the high Beacons - Corn Du, Fan Hir, Fan Brycheiniog - the other drops views over the Neath Valley, Swansea, and the bay.
Often referred to as the "Sidewalk in the Sky", the Asulkan Traverse is one of the most popular alpine traverses in Glacier National Park, offering moderate scrambling on solid rock with thrilling exposure and spectacular views. Though much of the route is easy and exposed class 2, the route involves some technical scrambling/climbing, with the crux of the route being a short climb up the North Ridge of The Dome graded at YDS 5.4.
On today’s episode we’re traveling to the High Sierras of California where Caroline Himbert recently set the women’s unsupported northbound record on the premier John Muir Trail. Her first long, unsupported effort was a way for her to go back to her roots as a long distance hiker.
The Cabox Summit is a 27km (16mi) looping trek on the southeast side of the Lewis Hills Ophiolite Massif, which peaks at the 812m (2,664ft) high Cabox, highest point on the island of Newfoundland. The route from Cold Brook Road to The Cabox is identical to the IATNL Lewis Hills Trail, however the return route takes hikers along the south rim of scenic and geologically diverse Travertine Canyon.
