Description

The route is the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes Road in Katmai National Park in Alaska. This is a 23.2 mile gravel road with three water crossings that links the famous Brooks Lodge/Brooks Camp (Notable for the grizzly bear viewing during salmon spawning season) and the Valley of the Ten Thousand Smokes - the location of the largest volcanic eruption by volume in the 20th century (1912). This is the only road in Katmai National Park and it travels through unspoiled Alaskan wilderness. The only way to get to Katmai National Park is via float plane.
