Whoever talks about the Walloon territory south of Sambre and Maas automatically thinks of the Ardennes. In the furthest southwest corner of Wallonia, however, there is another region, which is visibly different from the Ardennes: De Gaume. The 140 kilometer long circular walking route "Transgaumaise®" shows you the most beautiful of this remote part of Belgium.

Description

The Centennial Trail was established in 1970 and is now a section of The Great Trail (TGT). The trail cuts through Pre-Cambrian Boreal Shield in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Traditional Indigenous Territory of Michif Piyii (Métis), Anishinabewaki, ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ.

The trail offers stunning views and a true wilderness experience. It follows high granite ridges and low areas of boggy boreal forest. There are difficult sections with steep rock slopes. Trail users should look for rock cairns for way finding in sections with few trees. Water can be scarce along the way.

Traprock 5.8 Challenge (CT)

Description

Does running 20+ miles of technical single track and soloing classic rock routes sound fun? If so, then this route is for you. This route was not my brainchild, but something I saw on Mountain Project that Shawn S. envisioned, but never attempted. Essentially this route connects 8 different traprock cliffs along the Metacomet Trail. The route is likely around 23 miles (mileage will vary depending on which connector trails/roads you take). Here are the details with route names on each cliff:

Rattlesnake Mnt (Green Goddess 5.8)

Pinnacle Rock (Emerald City 5.8)
