Description

This route is created in mind of Matsuo Bashō, the most famous poet of the Edo period in Japan. He is recognized as the greatest master of Haiku.

He was constantly wandering east to west, north to south to get inspiration for his art of writing. He terminated his 156 days-1500miles long walking travel journey in Ogaki, Gifu Prefecture and wrote Oku no Hosomichi in the late 17th century.

Bashō took a small boat, navigated Suimon River down to Ise Bay when he left Ogaki.

Ogaki-Hachiman Shrine stands in front of Suimon river.

Blackpool to Fleetwood Coastal Path (United Kingdom)

Description

The seafront at Blackpool offers excellent walking and a wide range of things to keep your interest. Further north the once busy fishing port of Fleetwood is in complete contrast to its glitzy neighbour. These two towns are linked by the Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway and this proves an interesting mode of transport to enable you to do a lengthy linear walk without worrying about complicated transport arrangements.

Description

The Elkhorn Crest Trail (#1611) was established as a National Recreation Trail in 1979. It is the highest trail in the Blue Mountains and runs along the Elkhorn Mountain ridgeline across sub-alpine forests and grasslands. The trail offers panoramic views of the Baker Valley, the distant Wallowa Mountains and the Blue Mountains. Along the way you can also view six high mountain lakes, craggy nearby peaks and maybe catch a glimpse of a herd of elk or resident mountain goats. It is one of the best trail experiences Baker City has to offer!
