Description

This route starts outside of Sankri, a village that serves as a gateway to several popular treks in the Western Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Kedarkanta (3800m) is a minor summit and is frequently climbed route by tourists in 2-4 days. It is a steep and sustained hike all the way through as it gains nearly 200 vertical meters with every kilometer for 9 kilometers. There is a nice lake at 2835m which often serves as a campsite. Most of the route is on well defined forest trails while the last 300 vertical meters to the summit is open and rocky.

Description

This shorter trail loop takes you along fast well marked Cotswold trails. It begins just of the road about 1km up from the Rising Sun pub and starts with a short climb before taking you along the edge of the golf course on open flat trails. After passing through several farmyards you hit the woods section where fast flowing trails take you up and down- be warned of some serious hills. You then rise out of the woods to views of Belas Knap and take a long track round to the far end of Cleeve Common.

Sourland Mountain Loop (NJ)

Description

The Sourland Mountain Preserve probably features the best technical mountain running in central/southern New Jersey.  Don't let the "massive" climb of 500 ft in the first mile deceive you, these trails are truly gnarly, with sharp turns, uneven footing, and rocks -- lots of rocks. The trail is runnable but an ankle sprain is never out of the question.
