Description

The Swamp Fox Passage of the Palmetto Trail bisects the Francis Marion National Forest and is the longest unbroken section of the cross-state Palmetto Trail. At 47.2 miles, this trail takes runners through several distinct ecosystems in coastal South Carolina including swamps, long leaf pine forests, and grassy savannas. This trail goes through the heart of an area made famous by Francis Marion who played an integral part in the Revolutionary War as a general for the Continental Army.

Goldsteig: Bad Kötzting - Großer Arber (Germany)

Description

The "Goldsteig" is a premium hiking trail and a great route in the Bavarian Forest. The part from Bad Kötzting to the highest peak in the Bavarian Forest, "Großer Arber" is one of the most spectacular and most famous parts of the Goldsteig. It is a flowing single trail over 30 kilometers and 1800 meters in altitude with root paths, ridge riding and rocks. The FKT starts in Bad Kötzting at "Jahnplatz", follows the twelve peaks about 1000 meters ("12 Tausender") and ends at the peak of "Großer Arber".
