Description

The route starts at the entrance of Algonquin Park in Ontario called the West Gate. At the west gate there is a park office, parking lot and public wash rooms. Official start point is at the big map of Algonquin Park located of the side of the parking lot (see pictures). From there one follows highway 60 corridor across Algonquin Park until one reaches the East Gate of Algonquin Park. The route ends under the East Gate, meaning one has to pass through the gate to finish. The finish is very clear as the East Gate is an actual gate crossing the street.

Description

The Pisgah 400 Challenge is another program of Carolina Mountain Club. The challenge is to hike all of the official trails in the Pisgah Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest. The official trails are those numbered and named in the two lists on the National Geographic map of the Pisgah Ranger District, map 780. Backtracking is required to return to your vehicle and to access trails in the backcountry. Total distance can vary wildly and part of the challenge comes down to finding the most efficient route to cover all the trails.
