Powell Point (UT)

Description

Powell Point is one of the most distinctive landmarks in southern Utah. The route begins at the Water Canyon trailhead, which is accessed from Highway 12 outside of Escalante. Follow Water Canyon Trail to the top of the Table Cliff Plateau, and then turn left (south) where Water Canyon Trail ends at the two-track on top of the Plateau. Follow the two-track until it dead-ends at the Powell Point trailhead, and take the trail until it dead-ends at Powell Point.

From Kathmandu (Rangasala Dasharath Stadium) at 1,400 meters (4,593 ft) thru Jiri and Lukla to Mt Everest Base Camp, which sits at an altitude of 5,360 meters (17,585 ft) where the thin air contains only about 50% of the oxygen levels present at sea level and then back to Kathmandu (Rangasala Dasharath Stadium). Round trip distance of 640km (approx. 400 miles), with approximately 25,000 meters (82,020 ft) of brutal climbing and 25,000 meters (82,020ft ) of descending over the whole journey.

Convoluted Bliss - Merced River Drainage Ridge Traverse (CA)

Description

Convoluted Bliss is currently the longest completed alpine ridge traverse by distance in the United States (longer than WURL in Utah). It traverses around the entire Merced Lake Drainage in southeastern Yosemite, climbing a total of 51 peaks. It was first climbed over 8 days in August 2017. While small sections of the route require low 5th class scrambling, most of it involves class 2 boulder hopping. The entire 40-mile ridge portion of the route involves cross country travel. The total distance stats including approaching and deproaching the ridge is around 69 miles and 27,000 ft of gain.
