Hailed as one of Tennessee's most difficult and rewarding hiking trails, the Fiery Gizzard trail starts near Tracy City. The trail goes South then heads South East until it reaches the Foster Falls trail head. Backpacker magazine once rated the Fiery Gizzard trail as one of the top 25 hiking trails in the United States. Along the trail you will get to experience about a dozen waterfalls, a few swimming holes, and several vistas. The hemlock trees are estimated to be over 200 years old. The terrain is rocky for most of the trail with several areas being very steep.

The North Country National Scenic Trail runs 4,800 miles from North Dakota to Vermont. The segment of the trail passing through Pennsylvania from the Ohio state line to the New York border is approximately 284.8 miles (according to data on the NCT website). The Pennsylvania segment passes through numerous State Game Lands, State Parks including McConnell's Mill SP, Moraine SP, and Cook's Forest, and over idyllic country roads.
