The Wedge in San Rafael Swell
The Wedge is an epic destination run about 3 hours southeast of Salt Lake City. It consists of roughly 16 miles of trail on the edge of a Grand Canyon-like cliff. The trail is not technically difficult, but does have some rocks and roots and does get close to the cliff at times. You'll be rewarded with endless views the entire time.

Upheaval Loop
Start at the Upheaval Trail Trailhead and head up to the second Upheaval Dome overlook. After reaching the second overlook, turn around and head back to where the Upheaval Trail intersects with the Syncline Loop. The loop can be completed in either direction, but this description is for the counterclockwise approach. Take the Syncline Loop counterclockwise and continue 3 miles to the fork, where the Syncline Loop meets the Upheaval Canyon Trail. Keep left to the Upheaval Canyon Trail and enjoy the serenity away from crowds.

Great Walhalla Alpine Trail
If you start at Walhalla, it is a gorgeous town with lots of mining history and relics. Following the trail towards Mt Baw Baw has grade 4 single trail and unique rock formations. There can be snow during winter season and river crossings. Lots of elevation gain heading to Baw Baw.

Chicago Times-Herald Auto Race Route (IL)
This route follows the course of the 1895 Chicago Times-Herald Race, which was the first automobile race held in the United States (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Times-Herald_race). The winner of that race finished in 7 hours and 53 minutes of running time, and 10 hours and 23 minutes of elapsed time, which makes an interesting and realistic comparison point for present day runners on this route.
