This is a popular 70 km hiking roundtrip crossing northern Black Forest. Usually it’s done clockwise and in three stages (Calw-Sprollenhaus-Schömberg-Calw). It starts and ends at romantic marketplace of the city of Calw in Nagold Valley, native town of famous writer Hermann Hesse. From the start it climbs up a steep trail into the forest, offering beautiful views again and again.

From the Santa Barbara Mission Rose Garden through Rocky Nook Park following the most direct path (of least resistance) up Mission Canyon and the infamous Tunnel Road turning into Tunnel Trail over Angostura Pass, just below La Cumbre Peak, and down Gibraltar Road (the unpaved fire road portion) to the aptly named Gibraltar Dam, and back. The Mission Rose Garden Gibraltar Dam Marathon is a clean 42k with good gain & 90ish% dirt!

Gunung Raya is the highest mountain in Langkawi with an altitude of 881 meters. It is located in central Langkawi and has the sprawling Gunung Raya Golf Course at the base. The mountain is covered with dense rainforest which is full of amazing flora & fauna.

There are two ways you can approach the peak of Gunung Raya. You can either by road or stairs.

As this is a circular route you can start anywhere.  A convenient start is Headley Heath car park. The route incorporates three of the National Trust walks (Happy Valley, Juniper Walk & Stepping Stones) and includes a short road section that is part of the famous 2012 London Olympics cycling route (Zig Zag Road). This is a challenging route with ~1000m of elevation over a distance of 22.4km. It passes White Hill, Juniper Hill, Lodge Hill & Box Hill and boasts spectacular views, a river crossing and historic over a mixed terrain.
